Less than three hours by bus from Lima, PISCO is an obvious and rewarding stop en route south to Nazca and Arequipa. Although of little interest in itself, it makes a pleasant base - and provides access to the Paracas National Reserve , the wildlife of the Ballestas Islands , and the well-preserved Inca coastal outpost of Tambo Colorado . Just off the Panamerican Highway, it is also a crossroads for going up into the Andes: you can take roads from here to Huancavelica and Huancayo, as well as to Ayacucho and Cusco.
PiscoLucia says "I hated going to pisco because everything was in Spanish. "
