There are a number of sites within easy reach of Huaraz. Only 7km north are the natural thermal baths of Monterrey ; a similar distance, but higher into the hills, is the dramatic Wilkawain temple , its inner labyrinths open for exploration. On the other side of the valley, just half an hour by bus, Punta Callan is an ideal spot for magnificent views over the Cordillera Blanca, while to the south of the city you can see the intriguing cactus-like Puya Raymondi in the Huascaran National Park .
