Getting around a dozen visitor groups a day, SEYMOUR NORTE , directly north of Baltra, a low, flat island, just under two square kilometres in size, created by geological uplift, makes frequent appearances on tour-boat itineraries. Pangas put passengers ashore on black lava, where a trail leads past large colonies of blue-footed boobies , and both types of frigate bird - it's one of the best places in the islands to see the magnificent frigate bird. Along the shore you'll find barking sea lions and marine iguanas : take care where you put your feet as they nest here. An endemic variety of the palo santo tree borders the inland loop of the trail, smaller than its relative with hairier, greyer leaves, and occasionally land iguanas (brought here from Baltra) tucked away in the vegetation.
