Thirty-minutes' sail north of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno, Isla Lobos is a tiny island of rocky lava shores, covered with palo santo and speckled with candelabra cacti . It's heaving with sea lions , but along the short trail you'll also see blue-footed boobies and frigate birds . Another hour by boat to the northeast brings you to Leon Dormido (it's said to resemble a sleeping lion), called Kicker Rock in English. Dizzying tuff cliffs rise out of the ocean, cleft at one end by a narrow waterway, wide enough for a dinghy to go down. There's no landing site, but a cruise around the cliffs will reveal plenty of seabirds, including frigates, red-billed tropicbirds, masked and blue-footed boobies . It's a site that's popular for scuba diving and snorkelling. Visits to Leon Dormido sometimes return via Cerro Brujo , about thirty minutes to the east. On the west coast of San Cristobal, this cone stands over a white beach alive with sea lions, pelicans and waders . All the above sites are visitable as part of a day-trip arranged through one of the travel agents in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno .
