Tuasa buses leave San Jose for Heredia from C 1, Av 7/9 every 15-30 minutes and pull into Heredia at the corner of C Central and Av 4, a stone's throw south of the Parque Central. At night, minibuses leave San Jose hourly between midnight and 6am from Av 2, C 12/14. There's no tourist office in town. Banco Nacional at C 2, Av 2/4 and Scotiabank at Av 4, C 0/C 2 both have ATMs and change money and travellers' cheques . The correo (Mon-Fri

7.30am-5.30pm) is on the northwest corner of the Parque Central, while taxis line up on the east side of the Mercado Central, between Av 6 and 8, and on the southern side of the Parque Central.

Moving on from Heredia, buses to San Jose depart from C 0, Av 4 (about every 15min during the day). The town has no central bus terminal, but a variety of well-signed stops are scattered accross town, mainly around the Mercado Central, from where most local buses leave.
