The parts of the Zona Norte you'll have seen on the way in from the transport terminals aren't very enticing, and they're a fair reflection of the general tenor of northern Rio. But there are a couple of places well worth making the effort to come back out of the centre for - especially the Museu Nacional in the Quinta da Boa Vista, which you reach by metro (get off at Estacao Sao Cristovao) or by bus #472, #474 or #475 from Copacabana or Flamengo, or #262 from Praca Maua.
