The small towns of Lobos and San Miguel del Monte , connected by a 40km stretch of RP41, lie some 100km southwest of the capital. Though little visited by foreigners, they are popular weekend destinations for Portenos, primarily for their lakes where there are camping and fishing facilities, and good for overnight stops on your way south. Both are modest, old-fashioned towns; San Miguel is perhaps the prettier of the two, though Lobos has Argentina's only museum dedicated solely to Peron - who was born here - and, in the surrounding countryside, a couple of particularly attractive estancias .
