Monasterio de Nuestra Senora de los Angeles

Some 50km south of Azul, along the RP80, the Monasterio de Nuestra Senora de los Angeles - Latin America's first Trappist monastery - lies in the region known as Boca de las Sierras, a gentle pass through Azul's low, undulating sierras. There are no marked trails through the surounding sierras and exploring the area entails scrambling over rocks and pushing your way through shoulder-high pampas grass. Note also that the military has an explosives range, Fanazul, just to the north of the monastery and exploring the area unsupervised is not recommended. Check with Azul's tourist office for details of accompanied visits and other excursions , including horseriding .
