A couple of hundred kilometres south of San Miguel del Monte, along RN3, lies Azul , essentially useful as a transport hub, but with some modest attractions in the surrounding low-lying hills, including Latin America's first Trappist monastery. Tandil , 70km southeast of Azul, is an attractive town of cobbled streets backed by gentle rolling hills, known as the Sierra de Tandilia, which are popular destinations for walking and riding trips.
