Tours From Brisbane
Most tours from Brisbane are pretty straightforward day-trips by bus to take in the highlights of Lamington, Mount Tamborine, the Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast, but there are a few more adventurous options. Allstate Scenic Tours (tel 07/3285 1777) have been running day-trips to Green Mountain at Lamington National Park for years (Sun-Fri, $44), and you can arrange with them to be dropped off on one day and picked up another. Australian Day Tours (tel 07/3236 4155) have a dozen or so day-tours to the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast theme parks, or Lamington and Mount Tamborine for $50-80; Backtracks (tel 07/5573 5693) go to Lamington and Springbrook national parks from around $50; Coachliner (tel 07/3236 1239) go to Mount Tamborine, Green Mountain or the Sunshine Coast ($45-90); while Far Horizons (tel 07/3284 5475) operate day-trips to Lamington, the Glasshouse Mountains, or hinterland cattle stations from around $60. If you want a bit more depth to your trips, or to visit more distant regions, try Araucaria Ecotours (tel 07/5544 1283), who offer three days of spotting wildlife around the remote Mount Barney National Park (prices by arrangement); the highly recommended Rob's Rainforest Explorer (tel 07/3357 7061 or 019 496 607) for day-trips to various parts of the Scenic Rim or Glasshouse Mountains, featuring plenty of wildlife, rainforests, bush tucker and swimming holes ($48); or Sunrover (tel 07/3203 4241), for three- to six-day 4WD safaris to Moreton Island, Carnarvon Gorge or Fraser Island
