To Castlecrag: bus #203, #275. To Northbridge: bus #202. There are some architectural gems lurking around Middle Harbour: the 1889 bridge leading to Northbridge , which Jan Morris in Sydney describes rather fancifully as "an enormously castellated mock-Gothic bridge, with hefty towers, arches, crests and arrow-slits, such as might have been thrown across a river in Saxe-Coburg by some quixotic nineteenth-century princeling"; and the idyllic enclave of Castlecrag . The latter was designed in 1924 by Walter Burley Griffin , fresh from planning Canberra and intent on building an environmentally friendly suburb - free of the fences and the red-tiled roofs he hated - that would be "for ever part of the bush".
