Bus #X39, #329, #339, #340. Beyond Waverly Cemetery - a five-minute walk - on the other side of the ominously named Shark Point, is the channel-like Clovelly Bay , with concrete platforms on either side and several sets of steps leading into the very deep water; the sheltered bay is a popular place for lap-swimming and snorkelling, with a grassy park for picnicking. On Sunday afternoons, the nearby Clovelly Hotel is a favourite spot with locals and travellers, offering free live music. From Clovelly you can rock-hop around to equally narrow Gordons Bay , though this can be a little tricky, and without local knowledge you're probably better off sticking to the road route along Cliffbrook Parade . The bay is a popular diving and snorkelling area with its protected underwater nature trail , a sort of underwater bush-walk showing typical Sydney shore life. From here, a walkway leads around the waterfront to Major Street and then onto Dunningham Reserve overlooking the northern end of Coogee Beach; the walk to Coogee proper takes about fifteen minutes in all.
