Bus #378. Walking through Tamarama's park you can follow the oceanfront road for five minutes to the next beach around, Bronte Beach on Nelson Bay. Popular with familes, the valley-like park beyond the beach is extensive and shady; there's a mini-train ride for small children and an imaginative children's playground. At the southern end of the beach, palm trees give a suitably holiday feel against blue water views as you relax at one of the outside tables of Bronte Road's wonderful cafe strip. A natural rock enclosure makes a calm area to swim in, and there are rock ledges to lie on around the enclosed sea swimming pool known as Bronte Baths (open access; free). It's a pleasant five-minute walk past the baths to Waverly Cemetery , a fantastic spot to spend eternity. Established in 1877, it contains the graves of many famous Australians, with the bush poet contingent well represented by Henry Lawson.
