Many people find the beaches to the south of Bondi more enticing, and it's a popular walk or jog right around the oceanfront and clifftop walking track (with a fitness circuit) to Bondi's smaller, less brazen but very lively cousin Coogee (about 2hr 30min). En route you'll pass through gay favourite Tamarama , family-focused, cafe-cultured Bronte , narrow Clovelly , and Gordons Bay with its underwater nature trail. Beyond Coogee, the "Eastern Beaches Coast Walk" continues south to more downmarket Maroubra Beach ; stretches of boardwalk and interpretive boards detail environmental features along the way, including some impressive rock pools brimming with sealife. Randwick council provides a free guide-map detailing the walk, which can be picked up from the Customer Service Office, 30 Francis St, Randwick (tel 9399 0999), or from Coogee at the beachfront Coogee Kiosk, on Arden Street opposite McDonald's .
