Oxford Street , stretching from Hyde Park through Darlinghurst to Paddington and beyond, is a major amusement strip, lined with nightclubs, restaurants, cafes, pubs, bookshops, cinemas and fashion stores. The Darlinghurst end of Oxford Street is the focus of Sydney's very active gay and lesbian movement, and the art college on Burton Street, near the Darlinghurst Courthouse, means there's a new crop of self-conscious young stylemongers every year. Hip and bohemian, Darlinghurst mingles seediness with a certain hedonistic style: some art students and pale, wasted clubbers never leave the district - save for a latte at the Cross or a swim at "the Boy" in The Domain . There's a concentration of cafes on Victoria Street , north of Oxford Street, a classic pose strip radiating around the legendary Bar Coluzzi; this area also harbours some popular restaurants and bars. More cafes, restaurants and fashion are found on Liverpool Street , heading east and downhill from Oxford towards East Sydney near the Australian Museum. Here Stanley Street has a cluster of cheap Italian cafes and restaurants.
