Jan daily except Fri 10am-5pm; Feb-Dec Sat & Sun 10am-5pm; $7; www.hht.nsw.gov.au. Circular Quay CityRail or ferry. A block east of the Customs House, on the corner of Phillip Street, the Justice and Police Museum is housed in the former Water Police station, an 1858 sandstone building decorated with some particularly fine ironwork. The crime displays, including some truly macabre death masks, gruesome confiscated weapons (some of them murder implements) and other souvenirs of Sydney's murky past, are all shown within the context of a late nineteenth-century police station and court mock-up. There's also an interesting display on bushrangers, and usually a themed temporary exhibition too.
