Eating
Eating possibilities are largely confined to hotel dining rooms - where at a price you can gorge on char, caribou and musk ox: the best is probably The Peppermill at the Finto Motor Inn , 288 Mackenzie Rd followed by the Green Briar Dining Room (tel 777-2414) in the Mackenzie Hotel , whose coffee shop is also a good place for breakfast. The Back Room , 108 Mackenzie Rd, is famed for its stuffed polar bear, and serves the usual steaks, fish, fries, and won't break the bank. For the best and busiest bar , head for the Zoo in the Mackenzie Hotel , a gathering place for an eclectic mix of locals, backpackers and assorted out-of-towners. The Trapper Pub almost opposite the Eskimo Inn is a locals' hangout.
