Transport
Train services within the province serve Montreal, Gaspe, Quebec City and Jonquiere, and there are also services to Ontario, New Brunswick and the US - with Montreal very much the pivot. Buses are your best bet for getting around, with the major places connected by Orleans Express and Intercar services, supplemented by a network of smaller local lines. However, distances between communities in the outlying areas can be immense, and in order to reach more remote parks and settlements on secondary roads a car is pretty much essential. Around Montreal and Quebec City the shores of the St Lawrence are linked by bridges, and towards the north a network of ferries links the Gaspe with the Cote-Nord. In the far northeast the supply ship Nordik Express serves the Ile d'Anticosti and the roadless lower north shore as far as the Labrador border - the ultimate journey within Quebec.
