NEW RICHMOND , 30km from Bonaventure, has only one worthy attraction, the Centre d'Heritage Britannique de la Gaspesie , beside the bay towards the west end of town, 7km from the highway, at 351 boul Perron ouest (daily: June to early Sept 9am-6pm; Sept to early Oct 9am-4pm; $5). Set in wooded parkland around the old lighthouse at Duthie's Point, near the mouth of the Riviere Cascapedia, it's a kind of Loyalist theme park-cum-ghost town made up of a collection of wooden buildings assembled from the surrounding region. Although they were all restored to their nineteenth- or early-twentieth-century appearance, many are ill-kept and falling into disrepair today. Even so, the centre is spacious enough for a pleasant stroll along the shore. It even has its own tiny beach.
