East of Owen Sound the southern curve of Georgian Bay forms Nottawasaga Bay , one of the province's most popular holiday areas. In summer, the focus of attention is the crowded resort of Wasaga Beach , where a seemingly endless string of chalets and cottages fringe the several kilometres of protected sand that make up Wasaga Beach Provincial Park . To the west of Wasaga Beach, inland from the gritty town of Collingwood , is the Blue Mountain ski area , whose slopes utilize the Niagara Escarpment , the limestone ridge that weaves its way from near Niagara Falls to the Bruce Peninsula.
