Arrival, Information and Getting Around
The easiest way to reach Niagara-on-the-Lake by public transport is on the Niagara Shuttle bus (tel 905/358-3232 or 1-800/667-0256) from Niagara Falls. During the summer - from April or May to October - there are three services daily in each direction; the rest of the year there's just one. The return fare is $15. Pick-up points include the Niagara Falls town bus station and several motels in the vicinity of the Minolta Tower and Clifton Hill. In Niagara-on-the-Lake, the Shuttle bus stops either at the car park in the centre on Queen Street, or (when summer traffic restrictions are in effect) at Fort George. From the car park, it's a couple of minutes' walk to the tourist office , 153 King St at Prideaux (Jan & Feb Mon-Fri 9am-5pm; March-Dec Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, Sat & Sun 10am-5pm; tel 905/468-4263, www.niagara-on-the-lake.com ), which has town maps and operates a free and extremely useful room reservation service . It only takes a few minutes to stroll from one end of the town to the other, but to venture further afield it's worth considering hiring a bicycle from Zoom, 280 Hunter Rd (tel 905/468-4691, zoom@niagara.com ).
