Practicalities
Hamilton bus station is at the corner of Hunter and James streets, three blocks south of Main Street - which, together with King Street, one block further to the north, forms the downtown core. The tourist information office , 127 King St E at Catherine (Mon-Sat 9am-5pm; tel 905/546-2666 or 1-800/263-8590), can supply you with brochures on the city and its surroundings, plus restaurant and hotel lists. Most of the major hotel chains have branches in Hamilton, with rooms starting from around $80; one of the most comfortable is the centrally located Ramada Plaza Hotel , 150 King St E (tel 905/528-3451; $100-125).
