Arrival and Information
Thunder Bay Airport is on the west edge of Thunder Bay South - and 13km from the Pagoda. To get from the airport to the Pagoda, take local bus #3 Airport (every 30-40min) to the Brodie Street bus terminal in Thunder Bay South and either change or stay on the bus (depending on the bus number) for onward transportation to Thunder Bay North at the Water Street terminal, by the marina. Local buses are operated by Thunder Bay Transit (tel 684-3744). The flat fare is $2; ask for a transfer if you need more than one bus to complete your journey. The long-distance Greyhound bus station , at 815 Fort William Rd, is the terminal for buses arriving from Sault Ste Marie, Winnipeg (via Kenora) and Duluth. Transit bus #1, connecting the Brodie Street terminal with the Pagoda, runs past the long-distance terminal. There are two tourist offices . One is downtown in the Pagoda (May-Sept daily 9am-5pm; tel 684-3670), the other is in the Terry Fox Centre by the Terry Fox Monument (daily: mid-May to Aug 8am-8pm; Sept to mid-May 9am-5pm; tel 983-2041 or 1-800/MOST-FUN), on Hwy 17 just outside of town.
