Arrival and Information
Connected with all of Canada's major cities, Charlottetown airport is located 8km north of the town centre. There's no public transport from here to town, but the taxi fare costs just $8. Incoming buses all arrive centrally at the SMT depot, 330 University Ave at Gerald - a five-minute walk from the centre. Inside the airport, a seasonal tourist information desk has buckets of information and provides a free room-reservation service - as does PEI's main Visitor Information Centre , on the harbourfront, a couple of minutes' walk from the town centre at the foot of Hillsborough Street (daily: Sept-May 9am-5pm; June 8am-8pm; July-Aug 8am-10pm; tel 368-4444). Both have copies of the comprehensive Visitors' Guide, but the larger office has much more on the island's B&Bs, national park and farm-holiday spots as well as free Charlottetown maps.
