Eating and Drinking
Downtown Fredericton offers a reasonable range of informal cafes and restaurants and there are enough bars to entertain for a night or two. In the summer there's free outdoor theatre and live music down on Officers' Square. The Playhouse (tel 458-8344 or 1-800/442-9779, www.theplayhouse.nb.ca ), beside the Legislative Assembly Building, puts on a good variety of shows and is home to the province's only professional English-speaking theatre company, Theatre New Brunswick (Sept-April season). The tourist office has the details of all up-and-coming events.
