Money and Banks
Swedish currency is the krona (plural kronor), made up of 100 ore. It comes in coins of 50ore, 1kr, 5kr and 10kr; and notes of 20kr, 50kr, 100kr, 500kr, 1000kr and 10,000kr. You can change money in banks all over Sweden, which are open Mon-Fri 9.30am-3pm, Thurs also 4-5.30pm. Outside normal banking hours you can change money in exchange offices at airports and ferry terminals, and in post offices (look for the "Vaxel" sign), as well as at Forex exchange offices, which usually offer the best rates - expect to pay a minimum 20kr commission or 15kr per travellers' cheque. Bankomat machines give cash advances and accept most credit cards - check with your bank before you go.
