East of the Parque Eolico, the rocky coast is lined with small fishing and commuter villages, most comprised of a fairly ugly collection of houses occasionally including a small bar and often rudimentary bathing facilities, though the sea here is often too rough for swimming. The main town on this stretch of coast is PORIS DE ABONA around 12km north of the wind farm. Many of the apart ments in town serve as weekend homes for families from urban areas in the north, so the place has a sleepy feel outside major holidays. It boasts a short promenade as well as a couple of pleasant, sheltered and little-used sandy beaches and a handful of restaurants . Of these, the large pastel-coloured Restaurant Casablanca , Ctra General (tel 922/164 296; closed Mon) is particularly recommended; it makes and sells its own cheese and wine, and serves excellent, if expensive, paella as well as hosting regular live folk music. The undeveloped headland Punta de Poris just south of town features a picturesque lighthouse perched on rocks.
