Daily 10am-6pm; ?10, under-13s ?6 tel 922/795424. Subdivided into Amazonia and the Cactus and Animal Park, this lovingly crafted zoo and park shows off its wares well. If you enjoy watching wildlife, or are a budding wildlife photographer, you will be here some time. Amazonia is a huge tent full of rainforest plants and animals, and though its flora is not as lush as you might expect, it does contain an interesting selection of exotic birds. It's best to take your time here, since you may well be rewarded with the sight of hummingbirds feeding. The rest of the park is given over to the Cactus and Animal Park . The leaflet you receive at the entrance jollies you around the cacti area, explaining the evolution of the cactus as well as, perhaps inevitably, pointing out their phallic suggestiveness. Unless you're a dedicated fan you'll probably not linger here, but head for the animal enclosures. These are exceptionally well designed, and allow entry to enclosures such as a bat cave, a butterfly garden and a small reptile house, getting you as near to the animals as they - and you - are comfortable with.
