Daily 10am-6pm; E*;14, under 13s ?6; Free shuttle bus from Las Americas and Los Cristianos tel 922/753 001. Though considered one of Tenerife's premier tourist attractions, this highly commercial bird park, perched on hills overlooking Las Americas, is not all that entertaining and doesn't seem like particularly good value for money. Contrasting strikingly with the aridity of the land outside the complex, the park is filled with lush vegetation. In amongst this greenery are a number of bird and animal enclosures, a metal bobsleigh run (E*;1.50 per run) and an assault course made from ropes and cargo nets. The main attractions are, however, the bird shows . Exotic birds perform at 11am and 2pm when, among other displays, you'll be able to catch the parrot "Scoobiedoo" ride a scooter, and two Kookaburras, "Bruce" and "Sheila", wrestle a rubber snake. The show's pretty kitsch and its music doesn't help. Still, the displays of intelligence in the show, question the term "bird-brain", and consequently suggests the frustration of the hundreds of caged birds in the park. The greater attraction, as the park's name implies, is the eagle show ( Aguilas are eagles). Here various birds of prey swoop low over the crowd to earn morsels from their trainer's hands - you're best sitting on the lower rows for maximum effect. Flying times are at noon and 4pm, but avoid visiting on windy days when neither this nor the exotic bird show works as well as it should and often needs to be curtailed. There are a number of over-priced restaurants and cafes in the complex.
