A pleasant promenade , popular for strolls at any time of day, passes the harbour and the Playa de Los Cristianos on its route along the town's entire seafront. It begins to the west of town, by the new and relatively uncrowded Playa de las Vistas, from where it joins the promenade running around Las Americas and hugs the coastline as it heads east past high-rise hotel blocks and touristy restaurants finishing just short of the bleak and shadeless 428-metre Montana Guaza . You can climb Montana Guaza from this point, in a route that crosses arid terrain via a steep rocky path before reaching terraced farm land higher up (2-3hr round trip). The views from the summit stretch far beyond Los Cristianos and Las Americas along the western coast and over the sea to La Gomera.
