Food and Drink
The wide range of food and drink on Tenerife reflects the large number of immigrant groups that have made the island their home. Canarian food has traditionally based itself around simple dishes such as stews, grilled meat and seafood, with occasional influences from South America or the Spanish mainland in evidence. However, the large number of expatriate restaurants opening in resorts has meant that on the island as a whole a huge variety of cuisines is represented - from English and Italian to Swiss and Chinese. Each restaurant listed in the Guide has been categorized as either inexpensive (under ?6), moderate (?6-?10) and expensive (above ?10) - indicating the price of an average main course.
