Drinking and Nightlife
On summer evenings the cafes and bars of Ljubljana's Old Town spill out onto the streets with the hectic atmosphere of a mass open-air bar. A wander up and down the banks of the River Ljubljanica and along Stari trg and Mestni trg will yield an interesting locale every fifty yards or so. Some bars and clubs double up as venues for home-grown rock bands and occasional foreign groups. Otherwise, the bigger acts play in the main hall of the Tivoli sports centre in Tivoli Park. Other gig venues are KUD France Preseren at Karunova 14, the Cankarjev Dom Congress Centre on Trg republike, or the open-air stage at Kri5anke, Trg francoske revolucije. The free English-language Ljubljana Life magazine ( www.ljubljanalife.com ), available from the tourist office, has excellent - indeed essential - bar and club listings.
