If you fancy ice skating , then you could try your luck with the blink-and-you-miss-them opening hours at the winter ice rink at Torwar, ul. Lazienkowska 6 (Mon-Fri 8-9pm, Sat-Sun 11am-12.30pm & 6-7.30pm; tel 022/621 6207) or at the open-air rink at ul. Inspektowa 1, in Stegny (Mon-Fri 5-6.30pm, Sat & Sun noon-2pm, 3-5pm & 6-8pm; tel 022/842 2768). You can rent skates at both places for a nominal fee. The best of the city's swimming centres is at Wodny Park Warszawianka, 4km south of the centre at Merliniego 4, where there's an Olympic-sized pool as well as water slides and children's areas (Mon-Fri 6.30am-10pm, Sat & Sun 8am-10pm; ; buses #505, #514, #516, #524 from Centrum). In summer, there's an open-air pool at WOW Wisla, in the Praga suburb at Namyslowska 8 (Jul-Aug daily 9am-7pm; tram #32 from pl. Bankowy). As for spectator sports, your best bet is football . Legia Warszawa, the army club with a nationwide following, play at Stadion Wojska Polskiego, just southeast of the centre at ul. Lazienkowska (buses #155, #159 and #166). Their biggest rivals, Polonia, are less well supported but were league champions in 2000 - they play at ul. Konwiktorska 6, a ten-minute walk north of Stare Miasto (or tram #2 from Centrum).
