Poland Travellers'' Cheques, Credit Cards and Exchange

Travellers'' Cheques, Credit Cards and Exchange

Although travellers' cheques are the safest way of carrying your money, they're also the least convenient way of getting local currency, with only main banks, Orbis offices and hotels accepting them. They are not accepted by the "kantors" or exchange offices that you see dotted about everywhere. If you're travelling in such areas, you really do need a supply of cash as a backup. Hotels usually charge a hefty commission of five percent, banks around one percent, while American Express will cash cheques free of charge (into local currency only).
