Currency
The Polish unit of currency is the zloty (abbreviated as zl). As a result of a major currency reform initiated in January 1995, a "new" zloty was introduced, and the old currency phased out. The new zloty comes in notes of 10zl, 20zl, 50zl, 100zl and 200zl; and coins in 1, 2 and 5zl denominations, subdivided into groszy (10, 20 and 50). The old zloty is no longer legal tender, so don't accept any bills with "proletariat" written on. Currently the exchange rate is around 5.6zl to the pound sterling and 4zl to the US dollar, and looks set to remain reasonably stable - minor fluctuations aside.
