County Wicklow's most outstanding scenery is chiefly inland. Nevertheless, the coast offers a handful of pleasant, if unassuming, towns and some very fine beaches. For bracing walks, Wicklow and Bray are probably the best of these and, along with Arklow , offer plenty of accommodation. Travelling south from Dublin along the Wicklow coast , the N11 takes you to Bray , the first major town which, although very much a dormitory suburb, retains something of its Victorian resort character. From here the coastal road runs south down to Rathnew , where you join the main road again. By train, the DART service from the capital runs as far as Bray; to get to Wicklow town or Arklow, catch the Wexford train. Alternatively you could take the Wexford bus, which also runs to Wicklow town but then takes you on a scenic detour inland via the heavily wooded Vale of Avoca to Arklow.
