Live Music
The best Belfast entertainment is music in the pubs. The range on offer covers excellent traditional and folk, blues, country, jazz and indie music, and the number of visiting international performers has increased dramatically. The local scene is thriving too and, despite the absence of any real music industry infrastructure, there are always good up-and-coming bands playing in the city, just waiting to get noticed. While traditional music usually comes free with your pint, rock venues may charge between GBP2 and GBP5 depending on the act's reputation. Pre-booked tickets for the biggest names playing in purpose-built halls will usually cost much more - between GBP10 and GBP20. Classical music concerts are thin on the ground and almost all take place in the Ulster Hall or Waterfront Hall. Opera fans are catered for at the Grand Opera House.
