Belfast's city centre is fairly compact and easy to wander around. The heart of the old city can be found in the narrow atmospheric lanes of the former commercial district, the Entries , about five minutes' walk northeast of Donegall Square. On a grander scale, many of Belfast's most handsome buildings, evidence of the city's transformation during the industrial revolution, are concentrated further north and east, between St Anne's Cathedral and the River Lagan. Right by the river you'll find the Lagan Weir and a little further south, the huge new Laganside development, currently focused on the Waterfront Hall .
