South from Navan down the Dublin-Navan road (N3), there's a trio of places well worth seeing. The first is one of the most famous historic and mythical sites in Ireland, Tara , and its eponymous hill; moving south you'll come across Dunsany Castle , where you'll find an interesting art collection; and not far northwest of the castle, the remains of Bective Abbey are beautifully located on the River Boyne and make a pleasant stop on the way to Trim (the R161 from Navan to Trim is just by the abbey).
