Arrival and Information
You're almost bound to arrive in Galway at Eyre Square , also known as the J.F. Kennedy Memorial Park. The Bus Eireann and train stations are off the south side of the square, while the tourist office (May Mon-Sat 9am-5.45pm; June Mon-Sat 9am-6.45pm; July & Aug daily 8.30am-7.45pm; Sept-April Mon-Fri 9am-5.45pm, Sat 9am-12.45pm; tel 091/537700, www.irelandwest.travel.ie ) is nearby on Forster Street, which runs from the southeastern corner of the square. It runs walking tours of the city which depart daily at 11.30am and cost GBP3.50/?4.44 (tel 091/794435). If you arrive by plane you can catch a bus from Carnmore Airport into the city centre at 1.25pm (Mon-Sat); a bus from Galway bus station to the airport departs at 12.50pm (Mon-Sat). The journey costs around GBP2.25/?2.85 each way. A taxi to the airport costs around GBP10/?12.70 with Corrib Taxis (tel 091/564444).
