The most appealing route from Donegal town is the one which heads west along the shore of the bay all the way to Glencolmcille. Leaving Donegal town, the first turning off this road will lead you down to Holmes beach and the Ball Hill hostel . Further highlights along this coast include the thriving fishing port of Killybegs , while extraordinarily dramatic coastal scenery reaches an apogee in the mammoth sea cliffs of Slieve League . The Glencolmcille peninsula is a Gaeltacht , and the attractive villages of Kilcar, Carrick, Teelin and Glencolmcille itself are rich in both traditional folklore and music.
