Southeast of Donegal town, the corner of the county tucked into a fold in the border is replete with little lakes well stocked for fishing; the largest of these, and a place of pilgrimage, is Lough Derg . Less than five miles upriver from Donegal town is another spot of gentle natural beauty, Lough Eske , from where you can walk into the wilds of the Blue Stack Mountains , which rise to the north.
