There are a couple of inexpensive B&Bs on Main Street: O'Regan's (tel 028/28334; GBP26-33/?33.01-41.90) and Adele's (tel 028/28459; GBP33-40/?41.90-50.79), and Stanley House , about half a mile north of the village, offers comfortable and welcoming B&B (tel 028/28425; GBP33-40/?41.90-50.79). Five minutes' walk from the village centre is Schull's Backpackers' Lodge (IHH; tel 028/28681), an attractive wooden hostel surrounded by trees, where you can also camp . Ferries run from Schull to Baltimore, Sherkin and Clear Island and Karycraft operates cruises around the Fastnet Rock (July & Aug Wed 7pm; June & Sept by arrangement, call 028/28138 or 28278; 2hr 30min; GBP10/?12.70). If you fancy taking to the water yourself, contact Schull Watersports Centre, The Pier (tel 028/28554), who organizes sea-angling tripsdinghy rentalwind-surfing and, for the experienced only, diving. Horse riding can be arranged with The Colla House Hotel on Colla Road (tel 028/28105). Bike rental is available from Cotter's Yard on Main Street (tel 028/28165).

As for eating , Adele's Coffee Shop in Main Street does very good and moderately priced homemade lunches and evening meals, and also has an excellent - though expensive - bakery. The Courtyard , on Main Street, serves tasty, inexpensive lunches and has a good deli selling fresh bread from its brick-built steam oven, as well as local cheeses, oils and pickles. You can get superior fish and chips at George's Grapevine , Main Street, and very good bar food at the Bunratty Inn . around GBP19/?24.16), a delightful cottage restaurant specializing in duck, lamb and fish accessed by small boat.

Schull's pubs have music year round - look out for posters around town, or check out The Courtyard , The Bunratty Inn , The Galley or Arundel's . If you just want a relaxing pint, try Hackett's . The town also has a bank , and Fuschia Books on Main Street (secondhand only) is good place to while away a rainy afternoon.
