Arrival and Information
There's a tourist information hut down by the quay (May-Aug Tues-Thurs, Sat & Sun 1-5pm). As well as the scheduled Bus Eireann, there is a private service that operates from the harbour to Skibbereen at around 10-10.30am - check the exact schedule locally. For changing money , Declan McCarthy's by the harbour has a bureau de change; and if you've arrived under sail and are looking for showers , these are available at Bushe's Bar nearby. Information about ferry schedules are posted up around the harbour and is also available from the ferry companies (for Baltimore-Sherkin Island tel 028/20125; Schull-Sherkin Island tel 028/28138; Baltimore-Clear Island tel 028/39153; Clear Island-Schull tel 028/28278; most routes cost GBP6/?7.62 one-way, GBP9/?11.43 return; trips to Sherkin Island cost GBP4/?5.08 one-way, GBP8/?10.16 return).
