Compared to its western counterpart, the Danube Bend's east bank has fewer monuments and, consequently, fewer visitors. Vac , the only sizeable town, has a monopoly on historic architecture, styling itself the "city of churches". Not far from the town is the beautiful botanical garden at Vacratot , while further north you can view some of the finest scenery in the Danube Bend at Zebegeny and Nagymaros , which, like other settlements beneath the Borzsony range , mark the start of trails into the highlands. Starting from Budapest , you can reach anywhere along the east bank within an hour or two by train from Nyugati Station, or by bus from the Arpad hid terminal. The slower alternative is to catch a boat from Budapest's Vigado ter pier to Vac (2hr 30min), or on to Nagymaros and Zebegeny. There are also regular ferries from the west bank.
