The main road out of Vathy heads across the isthmus and takes a spectacular route to the northern half of Ithaki, serving the villages of Lefki, Stavros, Frikes and Kioni . There are only two daily buses , though the north of Ithaki is excellent scooter country; the close proximity of the settlements, small coves and Homeric interest also make it good rambling country. Once a day a kaiki also visits the last two of those communities - a cheap and scenic ride used by locals and tourists alike to meet the mainline ferries in Vathy. As with the rest of Ithaki there is only a limited amount of accommodation.
