CORFU (KERKYRA) There are 4 or 5 daily flights between Corfu and Athens (1hr), and 3 weekly except Sun to Thessaloniki (1hr). Several ferries (Port Authority tel 06610/32 655) per hour (5.15am-10pm) run between Corfu and Igoumenitsa (1hr 15min) in high season. Also 6 daily between Igoumenitsa and Lefkimi (40min). Additionally, many ferries between Italy (Brindisi, Bari, Ancona and Venice) and Patra stop at Corfu; stopover is free if specified in advance and there is no problem buying Corfu-Patra tickets. Although there is only a twice-weekly ferry to Paxi, there are up to 5 hydrofoils daily in season, either direct (1hr) or via Igoumenitsa (1hr 30min). The twice-weekly (Wed & Sat) tour hydrofoil does sometimes take one-way passengers to Kefallonia. Buses to Athens via the Igoumenitsa ferry depart 3 or 4 times daily, twice daily to Thessaloniki. ERIKOUSSA, MATHRAKI AND OTHONI A car ferry , the Alexandros II , runs from Kerkyra Town to all the islands 3 times weekly (Tues & Thurs 7.30am; Sun 9am) and to Othoni only on Sat (4pm). The ferry leaves from near the BP station on the seafront, midway between the Old and New Ports, although it involves sailing halfway round the island. Quicker access, favoured by islanders without vehicles, is via daily excursions from Sidhari or Ayios Stefanos run by Nearchos Seacruises (tel 06630/95 248). ITHAKI (ITHACA) Seasonal ferries from Frikes to: Fiskardho (Kefallonia; 1 daily; 1hr); Nydhri (Lefkadha; 1 daily; 1hr 45min). Pisaetos to: Sami (Kefallonia; 3 daily; 45min). Vathy to: Astakos (1 daily; 2hr 30min); Patra (2 daily; 5hr); Sami (Kefallonia; 2 daily; 1hr). Off-season, there is 1 daily service on each route, weather permitting - check with Port Authority (tel 06740/32 909). KEFALLONIA 1-2 daily flights to and from Athens (1hr). Ferries in season from Sami to: Astakos (1 daily; 4hr); Patra (4 daily;1hr 40min-2hr 30min); Pisaetos (Ithaki; 3 daily; 45min); Vathy, (Ithaki; 2 daily; 1hr). Also ferries from Poros to Kyllini (3 daily; 1hr 15min). Fiskardho to: Frikes (Ithaki; 1 daily; 1hr); Nydhri (Lefkadha; 1 daily; 2hr 45min); Vassiliki (Lefkadha; 3 daily; 1hr 15min). Argostoli to: Kyllini (2 daily; 2hr 30min); Lixouri (every 30min; 20min). Pessadha to: Ayios Nikolaos (Zakynthos; 2 daily; 1hr 30min). Most routes maintain 1 daily service in winter - check with Port Authorities (Argostoli tel 06710/22 224; Sami tel 06740/22 031; Poros tel 06740/72 460). The twice-weekly tour hydrofoils from Sami to Corfu will usually take one-way passengers. 5 daily buses from Argostoli to Athens (6-7hr). 1 daily from Lixouri, Poros and Sami. LEFKADHA 5 buses daily to and from Athens (6-7hr), and 5 buses daily to the Aktio ferry (30min) for Preveza, passing Aktio airport (25min). 7 ferries daily in season from Nydhri to Meganissi; daily connections (several in summer and 1 all year) from Nydhri or Vassiliki to Kefallonia (Fiskardho) and Ithaki (Frikes). The weekly cruise boat Ikaros will take one-way passengers to Parga or Paxi. PAXI Ferry connections to Paxi (Port Authority tel 06620/32 259) have stabilized in the last couple of years. To Corfu, there is a twice-weekly service throughout the year, plus up to 5 hydrofoils daily. There are 1-3 daily ferries to/from Igoumenitsa. In summer 2 kaikia connect daily with Parga. ZAKYNTHOS Zakynthos Town to: Kyllini (5 daily all year, up to 8 in season; 1hr 30min). Ayios Nikolaos to: Pessadha (Kefallonia; 2 daily May-Sept; 1hr 30min). Buses from Zakynthos Town to Athens (3-8 daily, according to season; 6hr). Flight (on Olympic) from Zakynthos Town to Athens (1-2 daily; 1hr).
