Ferry Routes and Schedules
Details of ferry routes, together with approximate journey times and frequencies, are to be found in the "Travel details" section. Please note that these are for general guidance only. Ferry schedules change with alarming regularity and the only information to be relied upon is that provided by the port police in each island harbour. Ferry agents in Pireas and on the islands are helpful, of course, but keep in mind that they often represent just one ferry line and won't necessarily inform you of the competition. Be aware, too, that ferry services to the smaller islands tend to be pretty skeletal from mid-September through to April. In many island groups, ferries are supplemented by catamarans and hydrofoils, which tend to take half the time and be twice the price. Most of the major hydrofoil routes are operated from May to early September, with lesser ones sometimes running in July and August only
