A regular bus service, designed to dovetail with the ferry schedule, connects Skala and Mylos with Limenaria on the far side of the island - or you could hike from Metohi along a winding dirt road through the pine forest, with views across to Egina and the Peloponnese. The paved west-coast road takes you past the turning for Dhragonera , a broad pebble beach with a dramatic panorama across to the mainland. LIMENARIA is a small farming community set at the edge of a fertile plateau in the southeast corner of the island, and still largely unaffected by tourism. There are two tavernas - Tasos is very good - and a few rooms. A sign points to a misleadingly named "beach", really just a spot, often monopolized by male naturists, where you can swim off the rocks. A half-hour walk west of Limenaria, on the old path which parallels the road, will bring you past a shallow salt lake, to a seasonal taverna overlooking the tiny islet of Aponissos and larger Dhoroussa beyond.
