Eating and Drinking
Not surprisingly, given its status as one of Germany's main urban centres, Frankfurt has a wealth of gastronomic possibilities. Whether it's vegan breakfast, Japanese afternoon tea or a gourmet Italian dinner you're after, you'll be able to find it somewhere. As for drink, the city is situated close to several famous wine-producing regions, and is itself an important beer centre. Binding is among the largest breweries in the country, while Henninger is a major exporter, and both produce a wide range of products. However, the city's favourite beverage is apple wine (Apfelwein; known as Ebbelwei or Ebbelwoi in the local dialect), a cider variant best sampled in the specialist taverns in Sachsenhausen.
